Our ‘Families Welcome’ Puppy Courses run for 8 consecutive weeks. Lessons last for 1 hour which we find is just about the maximum concentration time for a young puppy. Owners may struggle!! If all the family can come it makes the whole experience for you and puppy much more fun. It also means that everyone involved in pup’s early weeks and months will know what to do and say. Puppies need consistency if they are to learn quickly and remember what they have been taught. Having all the family “singing from the same hymn sheet” is a tremendous help to puppy. Tea and coffee are provided for spectators - the ‘trainer’ will be far too busy!.
On the course you and your pup will get to know each other, other puppies and how to do the essential skills needed for a happy life together. We will cover
- Recall (Come)
- Lead walking
- How to play with your puppy
- Socialisation

- Biting & mouthing
- Staying
- Leaving articles, food etc

In fact everything needed to pass the Kennel Club Good Citizen Puppy Foundation Award.
Once you have completed the course and successfully gained you Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Award you might like to build upon the basics learned on the Puppy Course and start work towards the Bronze, Silver and Gold Award s by attending our GCDS Classes
Class times are:-
Junior (weeks 1-4) 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Senior (weeks 5-8) 7.30pm to 8.30pm
Puppies are eligible for this course from one week after their second vaccination up to 10 months old. The younger the better as you will be starting the way you wish to carry on!
You will need to bring your puppy on an ordinary collar and ordinary lead. Harnesses and extending leads are not suitable. In addition please bring some delicious SOFT treats as rewards for getting it right. I find chicken, cheese or sausage cut into half centimetre pieces is ideal. At the end of each lesson you will be given handouts that cover everything taught during the session.
